From the very warm and much lauded 2009 Okanagan vintage, here is a BC Syrah that is ticking all the boxes. Co-fermented with a small percentage of Viognier, this is a richly flavoured wine, with intense dark fruit, black pepper and dried herbs. Firm, well-integrated tannins with very good structure, good acidity and balanced oak. Classic and very intense though not overdone or jammy. Bravo! Enjoy with lamb loin now or hold for up to five years. Score: 92 (Janet Dorozynski, www.WineAlign.com, Jan 2013)

Not quite as impressive in my view as the 2008 syrah from Le Vieux Pin, but a serious player nonetheless in a more...
