A blend of 71% syrah and 29% grenache. Steve Edmunds echews the intrusion of any oak flavours into his wines, so what you get is pure fruit. This red has more in common with a fine Roussillon or Languedoc red than most from California. Initially tight, this wine opens up beautifully to exibit notes of rasberries, earth, and olives with a long firm finish. I think another two years would improve this even more, but with a decant, wonderful now. Picked up at Marketview Wines in Rochester for $17.99, an absolute bargain! Can hold through 2018 at least. Tasted Feb 2012.
