Goats Do Roam Red 2011, Western Cape
Blend

South Africa
$12.95 (718940)
Immensely popular worldwide, this playfully named, Rhône-style blend (Shiraz, Cinsaut, Carignan and Mourvèdre with a dash of the local Pinotage) has proven to be more than just a funny name. It's a friendly, straightforward and fun wine featuring berry fruit and plum aromas with some pepper and leather in the background. A fantastic value and a great party wine! Lovely with braised red meat, fresh herbs and mushrooms.

Shows medium ruby colour. The aroma seams to have scent of blackberries with soft leathery texture. Very easy on the palette. Very great taste, I must say. Tasted Jan 2012
The 2011 Goats Do Roam Red is a medium to full bodied, fruity wine, with nice aromas of dominating prune and notable cherry. Tannins are subtle to refined (decant for 15 min) and the finish is medium. Drink in the next few years. My impression: NICE, 87 pts - correctly priced wine. Tasted Jan/12.
