The raspberry jam nose would lead one to believe that this is yet another rip-roaring, jam-packed, explosive bottle of California fruit fiesta. Not so – the palate is complex, giving more with each sip. It starts off slightly austere: graphite and dried currants. But with the open air, it gains momentum, revealing a medium body of increasing dark fruit, earthy undertones, and dry leathery tannins that become smoother after an hour in the glass. A wine for thought. Decant 2 hours before serving. Tasted Mar 2012.
... the next day, this was pure pleasure; juicy, fresh and ready to go.
