Rigal Les Terrasses Malbec 2009, Cahors
Malbec
Southwest, France
$12.95 (245761)
Description
A Gold Medal winner at the 2009 Concours Régional des Vins du Sud-Ouest.
Tasting Note
A Malbec from Cahors that has a bit of the New World in its soul. Lots of plum, cassis, dark chocolate and wood spice on the nose. Dry, with a sweet raspberry core expertly balanced by crisp acids and supple tannins. Medium-full bodied with a fairly long, crisp and fruity finish. It may be cellared 2-4 years, but will make a delicious match tonight with prime rib. (VINTAGES panel, July 2009)

good stuff
This wine has everything going for it, nice smell, nice oak, vanilla, a bit fruity but there is one thing seriously wrong. It is SO SOUR!!! I'm talking face contortingly sour. If you like sucking on lemons this wine is for you, otherwise I recommend only using this wine as a marinade as the acid will help soften the meat. I can't scroll below 75 otherwise I would.
*2010 Vintage*: The scents are very forthcoming with blueberries, pomegranate and black liquorice. The medium-bodied palate has balanced acidity, but it is a bit tannic. Great length and good value. Nov 2012
Fruité, jolie couleur, très agréable.
Bu avec des cuisses de canard confites.
