Perrin Les Cornuds Vinsobres 2009, Ac
Rhone-South

Rhone, France
$15.00 (241604)
A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, the 2009 Perrin et Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages Vinsobres Les Cornuds reveals abundant aromas of crushed rocks, spring flowers and blue as well as black fruits in its darker, more cool climate style. It is completely different from the Grenachedominated wines from the warmer climates of Cairanne, Rasteau, Vacqueyras or Gigondas. The impressive, deep, rich Vinsobres Les Cornuds comes from high elevation (400 feet) vineyards, and should easily age for 10 years. Score: (90-93) (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, Oct. 2010)

Tasted July 2011.
For $15, you really can't go wrong with this wine. It was rich and juicy. A great example of a Rhone wine. Great value!
Wow I didn't expect this much quality from a low priced Perrin & Fils. Thankfully it was recommended by Vintage staff, or else I would have passed it by. Lush and delicious. What a great Rhone wine at an amazing price. Violets, cherry concentrate, hint of bitter coffee and wet rocks come to mind.
Ripe dark berry fruit with support from notes of herbs, and pepper. Less structure and complexity than the '07 that I tasted just a few weeks ago but, at $15, this is a fine Cotes du Rhone. Drink now or over the next year while the fruit is vivid.

A down-to-earth, easy drinking, old world equal blend of Grenache and Syrah. Aromas of cassis, red currants, and dried meat lead to the subtle sweetness of black cherry with plum skin tartness, and hints of graphite. The finish is very dry. This would make a great afternoon conversation wine to serve with cold cut smoked meats and a variety of cheeses. Tasted Dec 2011.
Taste more syrah than Grenache but still good none the less.
