This is almost the last Foch left standing in Niagara, and winemaker Shiraz Mottiar is doing a good job by nit...

Unmistakable Foch character but with toned down gaminess and some gritty, dirty earth balance by elegant floral...

Curious, funky, wild black berry and cold cream flavours, high acid, no tannins, and short finish. Basic juice here....

Aromas of smoked meat and stewed black fruit; highly extracted I would suspect. A combination of tart and sweetness with a pronounced acidity that will make your mouth water. Interesting, enjoyable, and one of Ontario's more interesting red wines. Serve slightly chilled. Tasted April 2012.

Positives: Medium+ intensity on the nose. I found a lot cranberry with plums, blueberry & light earthy notes of fallen leaves. The nose has pretty violets.

Negatives: The acidity is a light bit high & combined with the low tannins makes this wine a little bit astringent.

Interesting items: One of the last true wines that originated here, & it's still tasteful & unique. Make sure you chill it like a Pinot Noir to get the full flavours of the fruit & drink it from a ballon glass (same as you would do Pinot).

Drink now on its own or pair with Thanksgiving turkey.

Found some complexity in the nose with some farm, decaying leaf, wood vine, menthol and earth along with blackberry and black cherry. Decent acid, no tannins and a short, juicy finish.
