2008 was a very difficult vintage for red wines in Ontario after the superb 2007 harvest. So it is to be expected...

Sweet, herbal, like stewed vegetables with sugar; light texture, short finish. Not recommended. Tasted May 2012.

The 2008 Mike Weir Cabernet Merlot has appealing aromas of lees, raspberry, toasted oak and vanilla on the nose and strawberry, raspberry and vanilla on the palate. It is a light bodied, extra-dry, integrated wine, with good acidity, notable tannins (decant for 1 hour) and a medium to long finish. It is a food friendly wine, also quite enjoyable on its own; drink now - 2016 (fruit is drying out). My impression: NICE, 89 pts - not bad for a product from a winery that is yet to open to the public. Tasted May/13.
