The purple-colored 2005 Altorredondo was aged for 16 months in new French oak. It is a glass-coating opaque purple with a brooding bouquet of pain grille, underbrush, Asian spices, violets, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Dense, ripe, and layered on the palate, this savory, lengthy effort will profit from 6-8 years of additional cellaring and will have a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2030. Score - 93.
