Niagara College Teaching Winery

Niagara College Teaching Winery

Canada’s only commercial teaching winery has a new campus, officially opened by Prince Charles in November 2009. Conveniently located just off the QEW at Highway 55, the building doubles as a Wine Visitor + Education Centre. Veteran winemaker/professor Terence Van Rooyen oversees the students and the sourcing of grape varieties from the adjacent vineyard (in St. David’s Bench) and elsewhere. The broad portfolio of intensely flavoured wines is topped by premium Dean’s List labels, including Cuvée Gold 2007 Pinot Noir, excellent 2007 Meritage and 2008 Cabernet Franc Icewine. On your visit, don’t miss the college’s great retail garden nursery, and dine at the Culinary Institute Restaurant.
